Aged 50
A William Filmer, aged 16, is shown in the 1851 census for Canterbury. He was born in Barham and could possibly have been an elder brother of Eliza, but this has not been proved, nor have the Barham parish registers been checked. At the time of the census he was a servant at 85 Broad St, St. Paul.
At the time of the 1881 census he is shown as a milkman in the Canterbury, St Augustine census, aged 45, with children Emma 19, unmarried, acting as his housekeeper; Annie J. 12, scholar; Charles, 11, Scholar; Thomas, 7, scholar, Frank, 4; and Bertha, 2.
William is still a bit of a puzzle as the 1851 census and the family bible indicate he was born between April and October, 1834, whereas the 1881 census and the register of deaths (which gives the death of a William, aged 50, in the December quarter of 1886, in the district of Blean) indicate he was born between November 1835 and March 1836. One really needs the death certificate to prove which is correct. Blean is the district east of Faversham
He raised a family in Canterbury and some of his children went to America.
Her death was registered as Anna Maria

Both were of Charing when Daniel married Mary Durtnal in 1656
He married first, Mary Durtnel, in 1656 at Lenham. She came from the nearby parish of Charing. The marriage is recorded in the Lenham registers but was not returned to the Bishop.
Daniel and Mary's children are unrecorded as they were most probably baptised at Otterden, one of the parishes which did not keep proper records during the hiatus. Only their last child, Richard, had an entry in the registers, being baptised there in 1661, just after the Restoration.
One would have expected them to have had at least a child called Daniel after his father. Daniel is an unusual name and any that can be located one would think were related to this family. A Daniel Filmer of Stalisfied, an adjacent parish to Otterden, was married at Throwley to Mary Arbeston in 1694. However she died there the same year. Daniel then remarried at Stalisfield, also in the same year, to a Joanna Marsh. The marriage was only four months after Mary's death. They had children, baptised at Stalisfield: Elizabeth in 1695; Mary in 1697, and Thomas in 1698. His wife died the following year. Daniel, himself, died in February, 1717/8 and is then described as a householder in the Stalisfield register. (Obscurely there is a Daniel Filmer buried in the vault of St. Vedas in London in 1736. No connection has so far been found to this family). It is likely that Daniel and Mary had at least one other son, Thomas, who married Mary Farley at Otterden in 1685. Their first child was baptised Daniel in January, 1686/7, presumably after his grandfather. He seems to have died in infancy. Their next child was called Thomas, baptised at Otterden in 1688. Another Daniel was baptised there in 1693 but again died in infancy in 1695. It looks as if Thomas may have died in 1696 and his son, Thomas, in 1706, unmarried, at Otterden.
What happened for certain to son, Richard, baptised at Otterden in 1661, is unknown but he may have died at Wichling in either 1677 or 1679, unmarried.

James, was baptised at Otterden in 1635. He seems to have married Thomasine Rudge at Lenham in 1660 when he is described as a husbandman. There is no evidence so far found that he had any children. A James Filmer, the parish clerk of Otterden, died at Otterden in 1685/6 and was buried there 24/3/1685/86.
He left a will
