Aunt Phoebe seems to be the longest lived member of the family we have found so far. Records are confusing as her age is not always clear and people get muddled over dates and times. She is often called the old lady of Lamberhurst or variations of this title. Years later the title passed to her niece, Mary Ann Davis spelling is not always certain as she may be Davis or Davies.
Phoebe was the daughter of John and Harriet Waters born in 1841, according to the 1851 census. She had several brothers and sisters, one another Mary Ann, is my great great grandmother. Names confuse the issue however as she is quoted in an old 1924 newspaper as having a son Thomas Waters(This does not make sense if her name is now Bailey )She is photographed in 1929 as an old lady of 90 with my mother Wilma Baldock, feeding the chickens so she certainly kept fit and active. She was born in either Kilndown or Goudhurst and died in 1932 aged 94 - Linda
Is this an error, a Thomas Waters was born to John Waters and Harriet Waghorn in 1858
